Fresh off Amazon’s announcement of an increase in Prime Video subscriptions, we now have Netflix with what appears to be its annual price hike. Yesterday, word got around after the streaming company sent Variety a statement addressing changes to its subscription pricing.

Its standard tier with ads is going from $8 monthly to $9; standard with no ads increases from $18 to $20; and lastly, its premium tier goes from $25 to $27. Although it’s a $1 or $2 monthly increase, the rising costs of damn-near everything add up. New customers will see the newer pricing immediately, while current customers can expect to see the changes within the coming weeks.

Earlier this year, Netflix nearly acquired Warner Bros. for $83 billion and got outbid by Paramount, but still walked away with $2.8 billion via a breakup fee. The last time the company raised its prices was in January 2025, but it has recently dived into video podcasts along with additional live events.
