With the success of the Ray-Ban Metas, Apple is looking to get into that aspect of wearable tech with their own pair of smart glasses. However, Apple is looking to compete with not just Meta, but the entire eyewear industry with a focus on everyday consumers at a price range of $200 to $500. This is all in play and coming soon, but not as soon as one might think, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman

Based on his latest Power On newsletter, Apple’s smart glasses are expected to launch sometime at the end of 2027 and go on sale in 2028. The company is currently testing four different styles and colors to stand out from the smart glasses crowd. The delayed launch gives Apple enough time to include its new Gemini-powered Siri with its new eyewear. And unlike other smart glasses, Apple is looking into adding accessibility advantages, such as using their augmented reality tech to improve vision.

Gurman’s newsletter also addressed the rumors of the forthcoming Vision Air, which would be a cheaper and lighter Apple Vision Pro, set to arrive in 2028 or 2029. Apple needs to work on the design and pricing on it so it won’t mirror the Vision pro sales. In the meantime, we shouldn’t expect any updates to the current iteration of the Vision Pro for the next two to three years.
