Apparently, Apple has been maintaining its momentum since late last year. The company finalized its budget devices with the MacBook Neo and iPhone 17e, and next up, alongside a touchscreen MacBook and foldable iPhone, are smart glasses.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has been diligently working to enter the smart glasses market, which is currently dominated by Meta. Gurman reported that Apple is in test mode and finalizing its styles, as the company is testing four designs. One is a large rectangular frame similar to the Ray-Ban Meta; another is a slimmer version, similar to the glasses Apple CEO Tim Cook wears daily; next are larger oval or circular frames; and lastly, smaller, more refined oval or circular frames. It would include color options, such as black, ocean blue, and light brown. Apple could launch its smart glasses using some or all four styles.
Apple’s smart glasses won’t be a direct rip-off of the 2nd-gen Ray-Ban Meta glasses, as the company is looking into vertically oriented oval lenses with surround lights. One huge advantage Apple has over Meta is its ecosystem; users will be able to sync them to their iPhone, iPad, or Mac for editing photos and videos, making calls, receiving notifications, listening to music, and using Siri.
Gurman reported that Apple could unveil its smart glasses as early as the end of this year or early 2027, with sales happening in 2027. If Apple can successfully launch its Gemini-powered Siri this year, the reveal could be a significant boon for the company and its stockholders.
