Last month, RIM made their new OS official at this year DevCon but has yet to announce any specs or official details on what their new lineup of devices will be working with.   Yesterday RIM’s VP of developer relations, Alec Saunders, spoke with PCMag and confirmed some details on their BBX devices.  They didn’t reveal much but it is definitely enough to for RIM to regain interest in BlackBerry again.

RIM looks to incorporate some of the PlayBook specs into the new devices.   First and foremost BlackBerry lovers shouldn’t expect a Bold w/ super features, at least for the first wave of BBX devices anyways.   Like previous rumors suggest for an all-touchscreen BBX experience to be first out of the gate.   It is now confirmed to have a 1024 x 600 resolution display w/ 16:9 aspect ratio along with the native email & BES support.   Those specs sound great right now but this device(s) are scheduled for a launch sometime next year where they more than likely will become outdated.   Hopefully there will some key elements present in order to make this device worthwhile for consumers & enterprise users.
