Microsoft has talked about Windows 10 for what it seems to be quite some time now. This morning, we got word on when we can expect it for consumer launch. The date is July 29th but we have even more info for you like pricing (for those of you running an OS older than Windows 7) and system requirements.
Windows 10 will offer a bunch of new features like having access to Microsoft’s digital assistant Cortana, their new web browser called Edge which allows for built-in scribing/commenting, the ability to play/record Xbox One games on your PC thanks to their new Xbox apps, hand-off work form your PC to tablet w/ Continuum, and several new native apps on-board.
For those of you running an older version of Windows, the upgrade won’t be free. Current leaks shows the pricing for the Windows 10 Home for $110 and Professional will cost you $150.
You won’t need much to run Windows 10 but you need to free up some space. The system requirements are as follows. You’ll need to be running Windows 7.1 SP1 or the 8.1, a 1GHz CPU or faster, 1GM of RAM free for 32-bit or 2GB of RAM free for 64-bit systems, 16GB of storage free for 32-bit systems or 32GB of storage free for 64-bit, a DirectX 9 supported graphics card, and at least a 1024 x 600 resolution display.
For those of you who are running Windows 7.1 or later, you can reserve your free copy of Windows 10 here.
