Man, talk about timing. Earlier today, Google announced their very 1st tablet running Chrome OS geared towards the education sector. Introducing the Acer Chromebook Tab 10: a 9.7inch $329 tablet coming in April that runs the latest version of Chrome OS that supports Android apps as well.
The Tab 10 is equipped w/ a 9.7inch QXGA IPS display w/ 2048 x 1536 resolution + 264ppi, running OP1 CPU last seen on the Samsung Chromebook Plus, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage expandable via microSD, dual speakers, 9-hour battery life, USB-C port, headphone jack, Bluetooth 4.1, and a stylus built-in. Since this has access tot he Google Play Store, you’ll have access to Android games like PUBG, Google Drive apps as well as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and more.
This is the 1st of many more Chromebook tablets set to arrive as Google is looking to diversify their offerings within the school systems. I mentioned timing before as Apple is set to unveil cheaper iPads tomorrow as a part of their education event. Only time will tell if Apple can usurp Google’s hold on the education market.
Thoughts?
