Earlier this week at NAB 2018, the folks over at Blackmagic Design updated one of its popular cameras: the Pocket Cinema Camera now w/ 4K video support & other goodies added. Now offering even more things making it even more ideal for filmmakers.
So this new handheld shooter retains its Micro Four Thirds sensor but now has HDR support, can shoot up to 4096 x 2160 resolution, 12-bit Cinema 4K RAW + 10-bit ProRes, dual native ISO up to 25,600, 13 stops of dynamic range, and frame rates from 23.98 to 60fps on a 5inch 1080p touchscreen display. You also got a full-size HDMI that can output HDR.
On the audio side of things, you got a mini XLR input w/ 48v phantom power, 3.5mm stereo audio jack, and a built-in audio recorder. The camera utilizes LP-E6 batteries and can be charged via USB-C or docking connector. And lastly, you can record to an SD card, CFast card, or directly to external drive via USB-C.
You can even apply 3D LUTs while recording/monitoring. Blackmagic is utilizing their own 4th-gen color science to do more w/ HDR, video, & other video modes. The new Pocket Cinema Camera 4K will cost you $1300, come w/ a full version of Davinci Resolve 15, and due out later this year.
