Last year’s favorite only 7inch Android tablet that mattered has been refreshed to be better, faster, and stronger than before.  The proverbial cat has been out the bag about this latest Android tablet well in advance through previous leaks.  The new Nexus 7 is 50grams lighter, 2mm thinner, and 6mm narrower.  It will offer a 7inch full 1080p HD IPS display w/ 1920 x 1200 resolution + 323ppi, running Android 4.3, powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, and dual cameras (1.2MP in front + 5MP on the rear).

If Apple doesn’t put out a Retina iPad mini this year, they maybe in trouble.

For the 1st time, there will be LTE models available alongside Wi-Fi that’s compatible w/ AT&T, T-Mobile, & Verizon LTE networks (sorry, Sprint users).  Google ups the iPad competition w/ a suggested 9-hours of playing HD video and 10-hours of surfing the web.   The pure Android tablet comes in two storage sizes but three flavors: 16GB model which goes for $229, the 32GB which goes for $269, and a 32GB LTE model for $349.  Pre-orders for the tablet already went live during the wee hours of the morning.  As the Wi-Fi model will be available on July 30th online at the Google Play Store & in stores (Best Buy, Staples, GameStop, Office Max, Radio Shack, Amazon, HSN, Walmart, B&H, Office Depot, & J&R).

I am looking forward to handling the tablet to compare it with last year’s model.  I think the change in CPU will warrant better performance in the long run but we shall see.

Update:

FYI: Amazon & Best Buy are selling the new Nexus 7 early. Go and get yours now!
