iPhone 5 lighting

Seems like secretly Apple has been making moves to shift things over to the Lightning port for the audio side of things. According to the folks over at 9to5Mac, an upcoming iOS update will add support for headphones w/ Lightning jacks. This move would soon render the headphone jack extinct in years to come.

An Apple/Beats headphones to soon take advantage of your Lightning port.

This move would make compatible headphones proprietary to Apple products. But this may not be for the better just yet. This wouldn’t support any Hi-Fi (high fidelity) playback though via Lightning port but still retain lossless audio up to 48kHz. So don’t expect the headphone jack to disappear right away. It will more than likely still be on the next iPhone.

Apple ain’t done pushing the envelope in design + technology just yet. We expect more to come.
