pebble time outside
The time is now as Pebble reveals their latest smartwatch w/ the Pebble Time.  As the leaks suggested, we now have a color e-paper display but there’s a lot more to this new wearable than just a splash of color.  Pebble team has been hard at work to make something more competitive as the smartwatch races thrives on and it looks like they may have succeeded.

Pebble returns w/a new wearable to get their spot back.

Their newest wearable maintains the e-paper display technology as they were able to retain the 5-7 day battery life even through they’re using color now.  Its still water-resistant, utilize thousands of watch faces + apps, and fits normal 22mm bands.  However its now has a 20% thinner body, a mic for sending quick texts/messaging apps + reminders, support step tracking w/ Misfit + Jawbone, tactile buttons, and will work w/ devices running iOS 8 on iPhone 4S & higher and those running Android 4.0 or higher.

Pebble’s new UI is called Timeline as it focuses on accessing your info from the past, present, & future.  It allows you to view your calendars, alarms, apps, and other relevant info w/ quick actions to go along w/ it.  From your favorite sports team score from last night’s game to your step count to weather to upcoming events in your calendar and more.  The new navigation reminds me of Google Now on Android Wear and thats’ not a bad thing.   Especially for a good smartwatch that works on both Android + iOS.

Pebble is sticking to their roots and sticking w/ Kickstarter as a way for funding and to attract early adopters.  Early bird backers can get the Pebble Time for only $159 + shipping then goes up to $179.  The Pebble Time will retail for $199 in May when it launches officially.  It will arrive in 3 colors: Black, White, & Red.
