Over the past week, there has been quite a large amount of leaks surrounding Google’s upcoming Nexus device and the LG Optimus G (which seem to be one and the same more or less).  We already spoke about this in depth previously as it seems more details have now come to light.  Now we have a possible launch date along with actual photos to go along with it.

At the moment, it has been revealed by those using test models/prototypes on what specs we can expect from the newest Nexus.  Matching most of the rumored specs of running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core S4 Pro processor, on a 4.7inch HD IPS display w/1280 x 720 resolution, 2GB of RAM, 8MP rear-facing camera (not the 13MP some had hoped), NFC, & only 8GB of storage (hopefully this gets beefed up before the official release).  The specs have been confirmed by the good folks at XDA & photos by Onliner.  The latest Nexus looks to share the same internals as LG’s Optimus G, launching very soon to AT&T and Sprint but rounded the edges to resemble last year’s Nexus by Samsung.

Side-by-side with the iPhone 5

According to a French newspaper Le Figaro, Google is said to make an official announcement of the new Nexus and start selling the device on the Google Play Store on October 29th.  Like I said, just leaks & info coming out of the woodwork for this thing.   The only question that now remains: is LG the only manufacturer making a Nexus smartphone this year?  Hopefully we will have an answer sooner rather than later.
