Word around the blogosphere is that Microsoft was actually caught-off guard by Sony’s PlayStation 4 announcement earlier this week. Microsoft was originally slated to unveil their next-gen console at this year’s E3 but looks to have a change of heart. According to the folks over at CVG, Microsoft’s Xbox team is already planning a press event sometime in April to announce the new Xbox.
Microsoft does have an opportunity to take advantage of Sony not unveiling an actual console. Or maybe this was all part of Sony’s grand design for Microsoft to show their new box first and then make appropriate changes since both console are launching in time for the holidays. I guess we will have to wait and see when the rest of the Internet receive their invites.
