Yesterday, Sony unveiled their new Android flagship w/ the Xperia XZ2.  We can expect beefier internals & some new features but we got something people have been asking for a long time: a new design language.

As you can see from the image above, we got smaller bezels, a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, and a new concave-looking rear design.  Along w/ that, the Xperia XZ2 offers a 5.7inch display w/ 2160 x 1080 resolution + 18:9 aspect ratio + HDR, powered by a Snapdragon 845 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage expandable up to 400GB via microSD, running Android 8.0 Oreo, IP65/68 water-resistant body, stereo speakers, a Dynamic Vibration System to let you feel action in your hands like 4D for your phone, and a 3180 mAh battery w/ Quick Charge 3.0 + fast wireless charging.  All of this but no headphone jack though.

As far as the cameras are concerned, we got a f/2.0 19MP Motion Eye sensor on the rear capable of 4K HDR + 960fps/120fps slow-motion @1080p video.  On the front, we got a f/2.2 5MP wide-angle selfie shooter.  It has its own Bionz image processor sensor on-board to assist w/ Predictive Capture to detect when someone’s eyes are closed.  And lastly, you got 3D Creator where you can scan your face or an object to share via social media & messaging.

The Xperia XZ2 will be available globally sometime next month (which is later this week).  No word on US availability yet, if there even will be any other than unlocked on Amazon.  We’ll let you know what the pricing will be when made available.

Is this putting Sony on the right track for you?
