Now the one we’ve all been waiting for, the newest version of Android – namely Android P. It turns out that Android P has a lot more to offer than we thought it would. For starters, you got a way to edit screenshots, new volume controls, new Quick Settings and that’s just the start.
With Android P, AI goes system-wide.
As you can see above, we got a new look for multitasking navigation that is reminiscent of the iPhone X. This does actually make for a less congested multitasking screen. You got a longer Home button that looks like hyphen w/ one tap gets you Home & a long press gets you to the Google Assistant. You got Smart Text Selection ever more present to work more so system-wide rather than in just Maps or Gmail. There’s now Adaptive Battery that uses AI to figure out which apps/services to gets priority as well as Adaptive Brightness to adjust the display brightness according to your surroundings.
App Actions uses AI to anticipate what you’re next action will be within an app or elsewhere. Like suggesting for favorite music player when connecting Bluetooth headphones to your device or plug in headphones. Slices give you a quicker way to navigate the app w/ a touch of a button. Like searching Lyft in Google Search will give you price/time for a trip to work in an interactive way.
There’s a new Dashboard that shows off how much time you’re spending on your device. The App Timer allows you to set time limits on apps, the new Do Not Disturb mode silences phone calls, notifications, and even the visual of a notification. Lastly, Wind Down automatically switches on Night Light when it gets dark and DND mode kicks in as well.
We got the beta of on our Pixel 2 XL and is diving into it so we can bring you a hands-on w/ Android P. Did you grab it yet for your phone?
