So you’ve been hearing about it and seeing mockups and such for it.  But here is our official 1st look at Samsung’s folding phone. It is using their new One UI on top of Android and their new patented Infinity Flex Display to pull everything off.

Let’s start w/ the screen.  The Infinity Flex Display is composed of cover window, a shock-absorbent film, thin polarizer, flexible layer, and a flexible backplane to pull it all off.  This means that it will be able to fold over and over again as well as being tough w/o the use of Gorilla Glass.  Did we mention it is the thinnest display Samsung has ever made?  Well, it is.

The entire main display measures in at 7.3inches w/ a 1536 x 2152 resolution and the device closed (cover display) measures in at 4.5inches w/ a 840 x 1960 resolution.  Both offer a 420ppi BTW.  The adaptive display will be able to have up to 3 apps open at once called Multi Active Window.

On the software side of things for their foldable device & other Galaxy devices, they have a new One UI coming as well.  This is more or less Samsung’s custom Android 9.0 Pie update integrated within their own UX.  This will be the new overhaul of the UI formerly known as Samsung Experience UX or TouchWiz.  This will offer a new overall look w/ improved icons, rounded corners, a more robust Dark Mode, better look for Settings + notification window, and much more.

So get ready for a new Samsung for 2019.  It will have the S10, Note 10, new Bixby features, new One UI, and new foldable Galaxy device.
