Last year, LG unveiled a rollable TV at CES as a mere concept. This year it has been fine-tuned and ready for the masses. Say hello to the 65inch 4K LG Signature OLED TV R that rolls into its base station/soundbar. This is what CES is all about – dope technology.
So how does a rollable OLED 4K TV work? LG utilizes a flexible OLED panel that can roll in or out in a matter of 10 seconds. There is a frame on the rear that helps push the panel up & down out of its base. And speaking about its base, it is a brushed aluminum casing w/ a wool speaker cover designed in Denmark. It also houses a 4.2 channel 100-watt Dolby Atmos speaker to handle all of its audio.
Now back to the TV itself. Other than being able to go completely up and completely down, it offers 3 modes of Full VIew, Line View, & Zero View to take advantage of it being a rollable display. Full View is the normal TV experience you would expect when watching TV. Line View drops the panel down to about 25% of the screen to allow for virtual assistant actions, view photos, the weather, clock, and more. And lastly, Zero View is the panel completely down to rock out w/ the music of your liking.
Pricing as yet to be announced as it will arrive later this Spring. Expect it to be priced around the $8,000 to $10,000. Now as nice as this is, it will be priced as such as well.
Who’s gonna ball out and pick this thing up later this year?
