Since the craziness is keeping companies from doing things, it ain’t stopping Apple. On Monday, they dropped their new Beats Powerbeats and today they updated 2 of their products: one of them is the iPad Pro. We knew it was coming as leaks showed off a new iPad w/ an iPhone 11 rear-camera housing and here it is. We’ll break down all that’s new about it.
Apple retains the 2 size options of 11inch and a 12.9inch variants w/ 120Hz ProMotion displays,10-hour battery life, & LTE support for their most powerful iPad. But there’s more than a few new things going on here. Inside, you got a new A12Z Bionic Chip + 8-core GPU, 4 studio-quality microphones from their 16inch MacBook Pro, and their new Magic Keyboard accessory.
So this is made to help you take full advantage of the newest iPad Pro & iPadOS. It offers a trackpad w/ a better on-screen cursor, attaches magnetically w/ a new floating design, a familiar MacBook keyboard layout, backlit keyboard and charges via USB-C. The new Magic Keyboard will work on previous generation iPad Pros as well. It aligns up to the rumors on it and it definitely looks better than what I imagined it to look like.
And last but not least, the new rear camera setup. It looks like dual rear cameras but its actually 3 to be exact. You got a f/1.8 12MP wide and a f/2.4 10MP ultra-wide sensors as well as a LiDAR scanner as well. Now for those of you who don’t know, this will allow you to measure the distance for objects up to 16.4ft away for even better AR features like object placement, motion capture, & more. It’s worth noting that you can still shoot up to 4K@60fps video w/ these as well. On the front, you have a f/2.2 7MP selfie camera.
You’ll be able to order the iPad Pro now as it will shop on March 25th. Both sizes will start w/ a 128GB storage size w/ the 11inch starting at $799 and the 12.9inch starting at $949. The Magic Keyboard isn’t due until May as it will have a $299 price tag for the 11inch and a $349 price tag for the 12.9inch model.
Is this the new iPad Pro you’ve been waiting for?
