Meet The New Electric Hummer From GM: Up To 350 Mile Range, Starting At $80K

After months of teasing it, we finally got to see GM’s vision for a fully electric Hummer will look like.  Last night, they unveiled it to the world and it looks pretty good in my opinion.  With Tesla still the baseline case study for EVs, there are a lot of interesting features here – some familiar & some brand-new.

So the 2021 Hummer EV Edition 1 is the official name of it as it is being dubbed the world’s 1st all-electric supertruck. It lives up to it by sporting a 4-door crew cab body style, powered by 3 motors that can go 0-60MPH in 3 seconds, powered by their Ultium battery pack capable of AWD /1,000HP/350-mile range.

So GMC has their own Ultium batteries that their internal cells can be stacked in horizontally or vertically within larger battery pack.  They can get as big at 200 kWh which is 2x of what’s inside of Telsa’s Model S.  The Hummer EV will use a 800V power system that will get you 100 miles of power in a 10-minute charge via DC @350 kWh.

Next up w/ got something ‘interesting’ to say the least w/ Crab Mode.   This is where the front + back wheels will turn at the same tilt angle to move diagonally a la like a crab.  For the off-road side of things, you got adaptive air suspension that can raise the vehicle up by 4 inches.  On top of its 35inch wheels, you got a armor plated undercarriage to keep things from damaging the battery packs.

You got an open-air infinity roof w/ removable + transparent sky panels.  There’s also a series of cameras (in front, the back, & undercarriage) in which they call their UltraVision system.  This will give drivers up to 18 separate views.  This can all be seen on its 13.4inch diagonal infotainment screen + 12.3inch diagonal driver display. Instead of AutoPilot, they do have GM’s SuperCruise driver assist that doesn’t require drivers to keep their hands on the wheels.  Its their hands-free self-steering system where driving is tracked by several sensors inside as well as HD maps and external cameras + sensors.

The 2021 Hummer EV Edition 1 is due out fall 2021 starting at $112,595, the 2022 model will start at $100,000, the 2023 mode starts at $90,000, and the 2024 model w/o a 3rd-motor will start at $80,000.  A bit reverse pricing strategy by not having the less expensive model out 1st or 2nd instead of last & coming 4 years from now.  Anyways, you can reserve yours now for only $100 down for those of you interested.  Hit the link below to get started as well as learn more info on it.
