Earlier this afternoon was Tesla’s Q4 earnings call, as they announced that they made a $270 million profit on $10.7 billion of revenue. They also finished 2020 w/ $721 million in profit on $31.5 billion in total revenue. Making this their 1st ever annual profit as a company.
Along w/ that, they quietly revealed a new look for the Model S w/ some new features + treats along w/ it. We can see from the image above that the exterior is slightly tweaked + a bit more streamlined but still retains that familiar Model S look. On the inside however, is where most of the new things lie.
We got a new simplified interior w/ a large tinted glass roof that’s standard, a new U-shaped butterfly steering wheel seen in the upcoming Roadster, a large 17inch center display/12.3inch driver display/8inch 2nd row display, gaming computer w/ 10 teraflops of processing power, and the minimalist design language from the Model 3. This new interior will carry over to the Model X as well.
There’s a more powerful powertrain that can get you up to 520 mile range + can go 0-60 MPH in under 2 seconds. You got the top of the line Plaid versions that will replace the Performance trim. This will get your Model S up to 200 miles per hour while the Long Range models will go up to 155 MPH.
The new Model S starts at $80,000 for the Long Range dual-motor version which will give you 412 miles of range. The new Plain Model S w/ 390 miles of range goes for $119,000 and the Plaid+ that gives you 520 mile range starts at $139,000. The new Model X will start at $90,000 for the Long Range dual-motor version w/ 360 mile range. And the Plaid version of the Model X will cost you $119,000 for 340 mile range.
So Tesla made the Model S look even better in my opinion. One day I will be putting my order in. Just not today.
