Earlier this week, Canon dropped a tease to let us know that they’re still working & innovating on their next camera.  Meet the EOS R3 full-frame mirrorless camera that will sit in-between their 8K-capable EOS R5 and their EOS-1D X Mk III

The EOS R3 will offer a one-piece design w/ vertical grip that’s also weather & dust resistant body.  The R3 will have less rolling shutter, continuous electronic shutter stills up to 30fps w/ full Dual Pixel CMOS AF + auto exposure.  Its auto-focus system will utilize deep learning technology to beef up eye + body detection and will add new subjects to detect AF with.

The R3’s electronic viewfinder will have the ability to select the initial area for AF tracking by looking where you want it.  You’ll be able to focus on + track moving subjects at that location in the frame using Eye Control AF2 + Servo AF.  Canon is also cooking up a new Mobile File Transmitter app for Android/iOS devices that will arrive soon.

And last but not least, this is their 1st full-frame stacked CMOS sensor w/ back-illuminated design – which is what the competition offers in the Sony Alpha 1 & Nikon Z9.  That’s all Canon really revealed as they’re no full specs or pricing or availability as of yet.
