We originally talked about it back in January, it looks like LG’s side of smartphones has come to an end.  Last night after a glorious Verzuz battle, LG announced their exit to make it official via press release.

LG’s decision was  approved by their board of directors yesterday.  However, LG will still sell their current inventory of devices as well as software updates + service support for a period of time.  The official cut off time for the smartphone business is said to be done by July 31st.

They opted out in order shift focus towards new areas like electric vehicle parts, smart homes, robotics, AI, & business-to-business solutions.  So unless things change, the LG Wing is pretty much their last device ever & the LG Rollable won’t see the light of day unfortunately.

They gave us great things like Quad-DACs, wide-angle cameras, dual screens, and even a modular phone.  But LG will go by the way of the history books along w/ HTC, Nokia, BlackBerry, & many more.  Time to pour out some liquor for LG as for the top picks of Android is now Google, OnePlus, & Samsung.

What was your favorite LG smartphone?
