GoPro has been on a roll as of late. Stepping outside of the box of the flagship Hero camera and an occasional experimental camera. We just got the Volta and now we got this: the Hero 10 Black Bones. A stripped-down version of their Hero 10 Black camera made for FPV drones. But only stripped-down in appearance not in its ability.
So you’ll still have the ability to record up to 5K@60fps, 4K@120fps, & HyperSmooth stabilization but you don’t have screens, speakers, doors, waterproofing, or battery inside of this thing. Living up to its name in being a bare bones Hero 10 Black. You’ll need to Macgyver this thing to get it to your liking w/ some soldering and such. For example, you’ll be able to solder the camera to the battery leads of your drone to get flying.
Now this was made this way because FPV pilots/operators were cutting their GoPros in half to shave the weight to mount it to their drones. The Hero 10 Black Bones comes in at only 54g w/o all of that stuff. This is an opportune way to get back into drones w/o getting back into drones.
The Hero 10 Black Bones is available today at GoPro’s site for $400 w/ 1-year of GoPro subscription or $500 w/o it. FYI: the subscription model includes camera replacement + cloud backup for it to make sense for consumers. If you didn’t notice, they’re gonna be pushing their subscription model on their new products moving forward.
