So yesterday amongst all of the Prime Day deals running rampant, Nothing made their 1st smartphone official -down to the last detail. Allow me to reintroduce to you, the Nothing Phone (1). Now we already know its not meant for the US but that doesn’t mean the rest of the world won’t be able to enjoy it. Let’s dive into all of the official specs, availability, and such.
It is armed w/ a 6.5inch 120hz OLED display w/ 2400 x 1080 resolution, powered by a Snapdragon 778G+ CPU, up to 12GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, IP53 rating, dual SIM support, dual stereo speakers, fingerprint reader + face unlock, dual 50MP rear cameras w/ one main and one ultrawide as both are armed w/ OIS + EIS, a 16MP selfie camera, running Nothing OS on top of Android w/ 3 years of software updates + 4 years of security updates, and a 4500 mAh battery w/ 33W fast wired charging, 15W wireless charging, & 5W reverse wireless charging.
Now we already talked about the light strips which they call the Glyph Interface but outside of that, it still needs to perform well as a phone. This means not get bogged, no or minimal software crashes, no overheating/exploding batteries, and the camera has to be good. Not Pixel good but can’t be the equivalent to a Motorola camera.
Regardless of experience or not, breaking ground w/ a new smartphone can be difficult no matter where the phone is released as I wish them well. If successful, they can always work out some deals to make its way to the US in future devices. The Nothing Phone (1) is due to hit over 40 markets, including the UK, Japan, India, and countries in mainland Europe starting at £399.
