Chromebook Instant Tethering Grows To More Devices Outside The Pixel Ones

One of the best features from the Google-based Chromebooks are expanding to other Chrome OS.  That feature is Instant Tethering which was once dedicated to Pixel smartphones and Google Chromebooks.

Starting today, it will expand to over 30 Android smartphones and 15 more Chromebooks.  So now this will add support for ASUS, Acer, Samsung, & more Chromebooks as well as support for HTC, LG, OnePlus, & more smartphones.  The feature was introduced on the Pixelbook back in late 2017 and has been polished and is now ready prime-time.

I’ve been using time and time again w/ the Pixelbook + Pixel 3 XL and it works like a charm.  It connects pretty easily as you pair the devices via Bluetooth and enable Instant Tethering in Connected Devices and you’re in.  It gives you the option for Smart Lock to unlock your Chromebook via phone’s fingerprint sensor as well as view your phone’s signal strength + battery life.
