As many of the reviews are already online, this is the big week for both of the next-gen consoles from Microsoft & Sony. They will be arriving to those who were able to pre-order one in advance. Today, we’re talking about the PS5 & its available storage at launch.
Now unlike the Xbox Series X, the PS5 will arrive w/ under 1TB of storage – 825GB to be exact. But like anything else, that’s not including system software at all so its actually less than that. So after the software along w/ Astro’s Playground pre-installed, you’re only left w/ 667.2GB for games & media. Which sucks cuz as graphics are getting better, game sizes + updates are getting massive as well. I’m looking at you Call Of Duty.
This isn’t just regulated to the PS5 as the Xbox Series S will only have 364GB out of the 512GB available & the Xbox Series X will have 802GB out of the 1TB available. The somewhat upside to it all is that you can expand it but it will cost you. You can use a Sony-certified NVMe SSD to add PS5 games to it. For those of you w/ a massive PS4 library can use an external HD or SSD to play your older games on the PS5. In other words, its gonna cost you.
So as many of you are expecting your PS5 this week & those getting it later, keep that in mind before you plan to grab a bunch games for it ASAP.
