Next up, the long-awaited update for the iPad Mini. And boy, did Apple not disappoint – save for the price point in IMO. Lots of new shiny things here save the long-rumored Mini LED display. Maybe next time around.
The 5th-generation iPad Mini goes from 7.9inch to an 8.3inch Liquid Display panel w/ 500 nits of brightness, a USB-C port, no Face ID but Touch ID, a new speaker system that outputs stereo in landscape mode, updated 12MP shooters on the front + rear w/ Center Stage support + 4K video on the rear, Wi-Fi 6, support for 5G speeds up to 3.5Gbps & support for the 2nd-gen Apple Pencil that can magnetically attach on the side of it.
Apple is retaining their eco-friendly stance on their materials w/ using 100 recycled aluminum, recycled tin for the board, & more. There’s also the usual boost in performance of 40% faster CPU + 80% faster GPU. This is all thanks to the A15 Bionic CPU BTW.
The new iPad Mini goes up for pre-order today and will be available next week starting at $499.
