Yup! Halo is coming to the PlayStation 5, along with PC, and Xbox Series S and X. What a time to be alive!

The original title that started it all for Xbox, Halo: Combat Evolved, is getting a remake in honor of its 25th anniversary. Introducing Halo: Campaign Evolved, which is a new 4K version of the original, complete with new story content, weapons, vehicles, three new bonus missions, and a 4-player online co-op mode, which can be played together, no matter the console.

Now this isn’t a lazily done reboot; Halo: Campaign Evolved was rebuilt entirely. Complete with Unreal Engine 5 visuals, original voice actors pre-recorded lines, and all the original music has been remastered and remixed — all while using the same code and systems from the original game. The same goes for the weapons, which now have a better look, feel, and sound.

Campaign Evolved also includes 9 additional weapons, as you can aim down sights with all guns now, and all vehicles (including enemy ones) can be driven or piloted. You can now sprint, but you can turn it off if it’s not your cup of tea. Halo Studios also put the most Skulls ever in a Halo Campaign in this title, for those who love completing the game at 100%. However, don’t look for multiplayer here as it’s not present, and currently no word on if it’s coming or not. But in preserving history, multiplayer didn’t arrive until Halo 2.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is coming sometime in 2026. Outside of the previously mentioned consoles, it will be a day-one game with Game Pass Ultimate/PC Game Pass, and will support Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox Play Anywhere. And it sounds like it’s only the beginning for more Halo titles/remakes.
