The return of physical keyboards to smartphones isn’t something most people expected in 2026, but the Clicks Communicator is making a case for it. Priced at $499, this BlackBerry-style secondary phone is designed for messaging, productivity, and focus, and it’s launching alongside a $109 mobile keyboard accessory.

For reference, Clicks is the company behind the BlackBerry-style keyboard cases for your iPhone or select Android devices and has sold over 100,000 units. Its co-founders are BlackBerry/CrackBerry veteran Kevin Michaluk and beloved YouTube personality Mr. Mobile, or Michael Fisher. And the company is going from accessories to full-fledged hardware, heading into CES 2026.

The Clicks Communicator was designed by Joseph Hofer, who designed the iconic BlackBerry Bold 9000, Bold 9900, Q10, and Passport devices, and was created to be purpose-built for people who carry one device for work and another for personal use. So don’t expect any access to social media apps or games—strictly messaging and productivity apps, such as Gmail, Telegram, WhatsApp, and Slack.

The Communicator weighs in at 170g and is 131mm tall, has a 4-inch OLED display with 256GB of storage expandable up to 2TB via microSD card, a 50MP main shooter with OIS and a 24MP selfie sensor, a 4,000 mAh battery that supports wireless charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a physical SIM tray + eSIM support, and interchangeable back covers for customization. They’ve also partnered with Niagara Launcher, a popular Android launcher, to craft an Android-powered software experience. And speaking of Android, it runs Android 16 with 5 years of security updates.

Now it can’t pay homage to BlackBerry without a standout notification feature, as the Communicator utilizes a new Signal Light. It’s the device’s side button and has an LED light around it that can glow different colors for specific app notifications. You can also press to activate voice dictation and potential AI-based features, which could arrive in the near future.

While it has a $499 retail price, the Click Communicator has an early-bird pricing of $399 for those who place a $199 deposit before February 27. For everyone else, the phone is anticipated to ship sometime later this year.

Now, let’s discuss the $79 keyboard accessory that we mentioned earlier. The Clicks Power Keyboard is a portable keyboard that offers a built-in 2,150 mAh battery and utilizes Qi2 magnets for wireless charging. It features a slider that fits various phone sizes and can be used in either portrait or landscape orientation. But it can also be used with other devices such as tablets, TVs, and AR/VR headsets.

Similar to the Communicator, the $109 Power Keyboard has early-bird pricing for $79 as pre-orders begin today, and it will ship sometime in the spring.
