Later this fall, we’re expecting Apple to officially unveil its folding iPhone, which could be called the iPhone Ultra. Previous reports suggested it would be thin and resemble two iPhone Airs and come with a $2,000 starting price tag.
A new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman adds more details to the forthcoming foldable. Gurman reports that its outer screen will be relatively around the size of a smaller iPhone and open up to a wider phablet, similar to the short and wide design of Google’s first foldable, the Pixel Fold.
While it will offer a larger screen, it won’t run iPad apps. However, its software is said to offer an iPad-like interface for side-by-side multitasking with a sidebar on the left side of the screen. Gurman says this will allow developers to make iPad-like versions of their iPhone apps.
And lastly, don’t look for Face ID or its accompanying notch, as Apple could utilize Touch ID within the phone’s Power or Side button. Apple will reportedly rely on a small-hole punch camera to handle selfies. Gurman reports the front panel would be too thin for Apple’s Face ID setup underneath.
