As Apple’s developers conference in WWDC rapidly approaches, we’re getting more information on what to expect for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. A new report suggests Apple will open its software for third-party AI models to power Siri and its other Apple Intelligence features.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on allowing third-party chatbots for more flexibility and choosing your AI style. The process would work by users choosing between the AI models that opt in for App Store support via a new feature called Extensions, and then selecting them via Settings. Gurman’s report also suggests that users could choose different Siri voices for different AI models (i.e., one voice for Gemini and one for ChatGPT).

Google’s Gemini is already set to power Apple’s Siri upgrade, and ChatGPT is already integrated into Apple Intelligence. Now, all Apple has to do is make room for Perplexity and CoPilot (if it’s even considered), and it’s an AI party.
