This morning, Verizon announced its new streamlined and value-based phone service option, dubbed the Simplicity Plan. The carrier also announced additional features, including the removal of activation and upgrade fees and a new loyalty and rewards program.
The new Simplicity Plan provides users with unlimited talk and text, 10GB of mobile hotspot data, access to satellite-based messaging, roaming in Canada and Mexico, and up to 50% off your connected smartwatch or tablet plan—all on Verizon’s 5G UW network at $45 per line, per month, with a promo pricing of $30 monthly per line. However, the company didn’t reveal what the data cap is for the plan before throttling comes into the mix.
Also new are the Simplicity Plus and Pro add-ons, which include monthly fees of $35 and $50 for those who upgrade and finance new phones annually or biannually, depending on the device. The Plus tier is for devices that retail between $350 and $830, such as the Pixel 10a, while the Pro tier is for devices that cost $831 and $1,200. You can upgrade phones on both Plus and Pro plans, just as long as 33% of the balance is paid off. And there’s still the option to add Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ (with ads), and Netflix & HBO Max (with ads), or the Travel bundle with Global Calling Plus and 3 Travel Pass Days.
They also added Verizon Dollars, a cash-back program that can be used for devices or accessories or up to 5x for each towards brands like Sephora, Hilton, Marriott, Starbucks, and more. And lastly, there’s the Verizon Shine program, which includes giveaways, sweepstakes, freebies, and daily drops from places like Amazon, Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, TopGolf, and more.
