Earlier this morning, Amazon revealed their new 2015 line of Fire tablets. There’s a new super affordable 7inch model as the 8inch & 10inch models get a modest refresh. Time to see what Amazon is actually offering.
The new Amazon Fire is the rumored $50 tablet as it is here and real. It is running Amazon’s latest Fire OS 5 codenamed Bellini to spice up the software side of things. On the hardware side we have a 7inch 1024 x 700 resolution IPS display, powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz CPU, 8GB of storage expandable via microSD card, a single speaker, and a VGA front -facing & 2MP rear-facing cameras. This will beginning shipping later this month on the 30th for $49.99 and you can actually buy a 6-pack of tablets for $250. Making it a buy 5, get the 6th for free.
Moving on to the more powerful 8inch & 10inch slates from Amazon. The new Fire HD 8 offers an 8inch 1280 x 800 resolution display, up to a quad-core 1.5GHz CPU, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, choice of 8GB & 16GB of storage expandable via microSD, a 720p front-facing & a 5MP rear-facing shooter. It will arrive in Black, Magenta, Blue, and Tangerine. While the Fire HD 10 has a 10.1inch 1280 x 800 display and matches the specs of the Fire HD 8. Pre-orders for the Fire HD 8 & Fire HD 10 starts today. The 8inch slate starts at $150 w/ 8GB of storage & the 10inch one starts at $230 w/ 16GB of storage.
