So after many years of folks waiting for it, the sequel to Sony’s A7S II is almost here. We already told you that it was coming this summer and now we have confirmation on what it will be revealed. So at the end of the month on July 28th @10AM EST, Sony will finally unveil the A7S III to the world.
We still don’t know exactly what to expect but since the Canon EOS R5 + R6 dropped, we hope its somewhat competitive. Rumors have w/ it a new 12MP sensor capable of 1080p @240fps/4K@120fps 10-bit 4:2:2 & 4K@120fps RAW over HDMI, 600Mbps bitrate, ISO 160-409,600, 16bit RAW output, 15 stops of dynamic range, a new high-res 9.44 million dot EVF, new noise-free cooling system to help prevent overheating, no recording time limits, and a fully articulating screen like the one on the Sony Zv-1. All while resembling that of the Sony A7RIV. I feel like Sony can pull this off w/ ease and it sounds like it will be amazing.
So I’m curious to how consumers will receive this over the Canon line up – especially w/ those pesky overheating concerns. But don’t scoff at the 12MP sensor as the A7S line is their more video focused shooter w/ a specialty of low-light. If you more power or MPs, then you would look to the A7R IV or A9 II for that.
So like we said, the announcement is on the 28th w/ the camera shipping sometime during mid-August. So who’s ready for this one?
