Earlier this week at CES, Sony unveiled the next-generation VR headset to work w/ their next-generation PS5 console. Introducing the PlayStation VR2 gaming headset armed w/ the latest technology to hopefully provide an amazing VR gaming experience. I say hopefully as Sony didn’t reveal any visuals on the hardware, UI, or games.
The PSVR2 is said to have OLED panels w/ 2000 x 2040 resolution per eye, an adjustable refresh rate from 90Hz to 120Hz, adjustable lens separation w/ 110-degree field of view, 4 cameras on board for headset + controller-tracking w/ IR for eye-tracking per eye, a 6-axis motion sensing system comprised of a 3-axis gyroscope + 3-axis accelerometer, vibration on the headset, built-in mics + output for stereo headphone, and connect to your PS5 via USB-C. There are new Sense 2 controllers to go along w/ the headset but Sony didn’t share what any of the hardware looked like.
While Sony didn’t reveal much about it, they did announce the 1st title coming to it w/ Horizon: Call of the Mountain w/ a trailer to match. Not sure if this is a spin-off or a collection of side missions from their previous Horizon games or their upcoming Horizon Forbidden West which drops next month.
Are you excited for Sony stepping back into the VR world of gaming? Especially since Oculus is having all of the fun right now.
