This morning, DJI revealed a few newer things they’ve been working on.  3 to be exact w/ 2 new gimbals and a wireless video transmission solution.  So meet the DJI RS3 gimbal, the RS3 Pro gimbal, & the Transmission.

Kicking things off w/ the DJI RS3, this is more or less an update to their RSC 2 gimbal from 2020.  This offers a larger 1.8inch OLED touchscreen for adjusting settings, Bluetooth shutter control, a grip w/ physical sliding switch to toggle between pan follow, pan + tilt follow, & FPV modes.  You got SuperSmooth support that adds extra stabilization for tighter lenses up to 100mm.  Then you have a new interchangeable battery grip w/ 12 hours of juice and support 18w PD fast charging.  And lastly, it caps out at 6.6lbs of payload for you camera + accessories.

Now the RS3 Pro has many of the same features from the RS but adds more to the mix.  It can handle a larger payload of up to 10lbs while only weighing a little bit more at 3.3lbs.  The biggest change is the addition of a Lidar Range Finder powered by their lidar-focusing technology from the Ronin 4D In short it can help turn manual lenses into auto-focus ones.  It also utilizes DJI’s ActiveTrack (now called ActiveTrack Pro) which helps maintain steady and in-focus shots via better subject detection + tracking.

And last but not least, the DJI Transmission.  This allows you to utilize their transmission technology for remote monitoring and control your camera, RS3 Pro, or both simultaneously.  So specifically, you’ll be able to video cast in 1080p@60fps up to 3.7miles w/ live audio monitoring.  All while using a 7inch monitor w/ 1500-nit bright that can support several receivers & 2 transitioning modes.

Both gimbals are available today w/ the RS3 starts at $549 and the RS3 Pro starts at $869.  The RS3 Combo adds an extra handle, focus motor, carrying case & more for $719.  The RS3 Pro Combo adds a quick-release plate, phone holder, Ronin image transmitter, & more for $1,099.  While the DJI Transmission will arrive in September for $2,499.  However, you can buy the transmitter & monitor separately for $1,699 and $1,099.

So which one(s) are you picking up to add to your creative gear?
