Later this month, the sequel to the Sonos Move speaker will become available.  While not much has changed on the outside, the new Move 2 has some noteworthy updates to make you consider picking this up as well.  Save for its the new redesigned controls that mirror the ones on theirrecent Era 100 & 300 speakers.  Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s dive into all that’s new w/ the Sonos Move 2.

Now for the hardware inside, you have 2 tweeters for stereo separation and a single woofer for mid-range vocals and heavy bass.  Sonos also added the ability to play music via Bluetooth and sync to other speakers.  If you use Sonos’ USB-C dongle, you can use it for in-line support to plug audio into the Move 2. And thanks to its 44Wh battery, you can charge smartphones and tablets w/ it using the rear USB-C port. Sonos has also gone and doubled the battery life, going from 10 hours to up to 24 hours of battery life on continuous playback on the Move 2.

Outside of that, the Move 2 retains the built-in handle as well as its IP56 dust/water resistance rating. The onboard mics still support Trueplay for optimizing the sound output in the room and supports hands-free Alexa or Sonos Voice Control. Still no Google Assistant support as the 2 companies have yet to figure out the best way to work together. The charging base is smaller w/ a detachable power adapter, and supports Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5.0.

The Sonos Move 2 goes on sale on September 20th for $449.  All of the new features sound like its $50 price increase might be worth it.  So who’s buying one to find out if its gotten better or not?
