For starters, these are not the sub-$30K Tesla vehicles the company once promised, as those are still in the works — apparently. However, earlier this week, Tesla introduced a sort of bare-bones version of the Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV, which start at $36,990 and $39,900. Welcome to Tesla’s new base model vehicles, as this is to provide a cheaper option to offset the lack of the $7,500 EV tax credit, which is now gone.

Both Standard Tesla models can achieve a range of approximately 321 miles, but trim down on many noteworthy features. So no Autopilot, no 2nd-row touchscreen, no cabin access to the glass roof on the Model Y, no AM/FM radio, only 7 speakers as opposed to the 15 on higher trim Teslas, only the front row has heated seat options, no rear light bar, no vegan leather seats, can only manually-adjust the steering wheel, and will use its previous-gen front hold and nose.

With the newest addition, there are now three trims available for the Model 3 and Model Y vehicles: the new entry-level Standard, the Long Range trim is now called Premium, and the Performance trim remains the top of the line Tesla you can buy.
