Even though we’re less than two months away from Apple’s iPhone event in September, the rumor mill is already buzzing about what iPhones we can expect for next year. We already talked about the 20th-anniversary iPhones and AirPods with cameras. Today’s topic of discussion is the next-gen iPhone Air and what improvements will be made.

The latest report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman discusses the current state of iPhone Air 2 prototypes inside of the company. Both models were armed with not one, but two rear-facing cameras. However, the additional sensor isn’t a telephoto but an ultra-wide camera. The current version of the Air is equipped with only a single 48MP rear sensor, which was the top gripe with many consumers and those I know who purchased one.

Gurman’s report also says the company is looking to improve battery life on its thinnest iPhone. It’s rumored to ship with Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro processor, which could provide a longer-lasting cell. However, it doesn’t detail if it utilizes a larger battery or other means to achieve its goal. Surprisingly, most consumers were content with the Air’s battery life, but I’m sure it lasting longer would be appreciated as well.

Apple’s September event would launch the 18 Pro, the 18 Pro Max, and the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra. As the 2nd-gen iPhone Air is reportedly launching sometime in Spring 2027. This would be alongside the base model iPhone 18 and budget-friendly 18e.
