Remember when we told you that Samsung was seriously considering switching the upcoming Galaxy S26+ for the Galaxy S26 Edge? The idea came to switch things up in its traditional S-tier smartphone lineup. According to a new report from SamMobile, that may not happen after all.
The report suggests the reason is due to poor sales of this year’s Galaxy S25 Edge, which were probably below the company’s expectations. As a result, Samsung will keep things business as usual with the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. However, this doesn’t mean Samsung won’t launch the S26 Edge at all, as it may arrive at a later time.
Pushing for sales for a niche phone line won’t be as easy as Samsung has done in the past. Keep in mind, Samsung releases a lot of phones in one year, like 8 in total. In 2025, they released 5 S-line phones (S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, S25 FE) and 3 Z-line phones (Z Flip 7, Z Fold 7, Z Flip FE). This is easily the most of any phone maker.
I presume Samsung will continue to release the Edge line separately and attempt to gain traction for the niche device. And then when it sells more, revisit the idea later.
